Nutcracker Shelf Sitter Crochet Pattern
I don’t even know myself right now…. I have always been a die-hard advocate to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to even think about Christmas. But in this, my 51st year, I have already had Christmas Radio playing in my ears for over a month! I guess designing this Christmas themed pattern may have influenced me. This pattern has me so excited. Introducing… the Nutcracker Shelf Sitter Crochet Pattern!
The idea for this shelf sitter pattern came around because a co-worker of mine collects nutcrackers. Her birthday is coming up and she is one of those people who I feel like is hard to buy for. So when I learned of her collection, I knew I had to design a nutcracker pattern to make her a one-of-a-kind gift to add to it!
The design process…
While toying with the idea, a snow-themed Nutcracker with soft blues and grays and FUR formed in my mind.
As I was working it up with my signature “ball” hands and feet, I realized I also wanted one with a high boot. I went to work trying to figure out how to make that boot and was so pleased with myself when I did figure it out!
Testers are so valuable
I know my testers probably wish I were more professional… then they wouldn’t have so much to correct me on!! But I am sooooo very thankful for all of them and their knowledge. Their input and suggestions are highly valued.
When I sent the pattern to my testers, I was so hesitant and anxious about it. I had in my mind that this pattern could be so versatile with many modifications to colors and color changes… but I didn’t really know how to best put that idea into a pattern. About half-way through the testing phase, I realized the best solution would be to offer two different versions of the pattern (a simple version and a detailed). Another idea that came to mind was to make a “coloring sheet” with a chart to fill in what colors/yarn used. I was so pleased when one of my testers also offered that idea! This is the perfect compliment to a pattern that can use a lot of different color changes and modifications.
One of my testers asked if she could make a different hat and came up with her first design. She gave me permission to share it and can be found in this post.
Pattern Highlights
If you are a beginner in the amigurumi world, I think this pattern would be great to improve on those skills and up your game. I tried really hard to give good, clear instructions with helpful photos and made several videos to help as well. This would be a great project to increase your skills!
This pattern is worked in the round with single crochet stitches. Arms and legs crocheted on as you work the body. The hair is crocheted onto the head as well. There is minimal sewing with this project. The hair and beard/mustache are artistic details in themselves.
Have I sold you on my Nutcracker Shelf Sitter Crochet Pattern yet? Why don\’t you give it a try and make yourself or someone else a gift that is unique and one-of-a kind?
Enjoy!💙
